The Radium Girls were young working class women who painted the dials of watches and clocks for everyone – wondrous products with numbers that glowed in the dark in the 1920’s. Their hair would glow after leaving the factory... Their boyfriends would smile. They became so sick that in court, they couldn’t raise their arms to swear to tell the truth... For in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Newark, New Jersey, geiger counters held over the graves of women dead too soon will actually start to click....
