President’s Message

As we come to the end of our 35th season, perhaps it is a good time to reflect on the past 35 years and to look forward to the years ahead.

Elsewhere in this publication you will read about our inaugural meeting, our early years producing plays in Leacock School and the Earl of March, and the building and taking up residence in our permanent home, the Ron Maslin Playhouse. You will also learn more about Ron Maslin who guided our motley group of friends who loved theatre, to the viable Theatre Company we are today.

You will learn more about how our theatre operates. Not everyone is suited for, or indeed wants, the onstage curtain call, but everyone is appreciated and applauded for their particular talent behind the scenes.

We are now a much larger group of friends, but we still share the love of theatre that started Kanata Theatre and we welcome sharing this interest with the new friends who wish to join us. Our sense of “Community” lives and thrives in working together for the enjoyment and satisfaction received in doing what we love and doing it well, and for providing entertainment to our
